Mopstick Softwood handail 43mm
A collection of traditional and contempary components for stairs and balustrades.
Base Rail: The diagonal timber rail at the base of the spindle that holds the bottom ends of the spindles in place.
Handrail: The diagonal timber rail that sit on top of the spindles. They attach to the newel posts at the top and bottom of the staircase and can be fixed to the wall.
Spindles: The vertical members that fill the gap between the handrail and the staircase, providing additional safety and decoration.
Newel Posts: The vertical posts at either end of the staircase that provide support the handrails and spindles.
Stringers: The long, diagonal structural members on either side of the staircase that support the stairs. They can be open (cut-out) or closed (solid) - the ones shown here are closed.
Fillets: The small pieces of timber that sit between the spindles on the baserail and handrail.
'Rebate size' here is the size of the spindle you need to fit in to these baserails.
